Hey all,

Woke up this morning with an intense craving for reuben --maybe it was all the DDC beer and talk of revolution.

where to find reuben nirvana?

  1. I would like to know also.

It's apparently not a popular sandwich in Montreal... I was in Rouses Point last week at a small mom & pop sandwich shop and had a killer reuben and I'm craving more. I wish there was a decent place to find it in the city. Anyone know??

I see to remember Reuben's (2 locations downtown) had a pretty good reuben. But haven't been since my Concordia days, which was 8 years ago, so cannot swear to it satisfying your craving.

Same here and i think the last time I had it was also 8 yrs ago

    2. Dunn's?

Dunn's is terrible. It's typical bland and mass distributed crappy dried-out smoked meat with (I'm pretty sure) coleslaw instead of kraut, tasteless thousand isle dressing that is surely grocery bottled stuff and less than fresh overly thick slices of russian black bread. Definitely not what I had in mind... I want to know if there is there any resto/deli in town that makes a REAL reuben... grilled pumpernickel, marbled rye or russian black bread with gooey melted swiss, pastrami or corned beef, sauerkraut and proper russian dressing? I know that none of the 'old style' deli counters offer this but I'm hoping that someone might know of a bistro or lunch restaurant in any price category that serves a true reuben sandwich? I've been asking this question for years and nobody seems to have an answer. I wonder if people just don't care enough about this sandwich..
