Bourdain & Ripert's new radio show on XM

lynnlato Feb 13, 2010 06:13 AM

I just read in the newspaper this morning that Anthony Bourdain & Eric Ripert will co-host a radio show on The Martha Stewart Living Channel beginning this Thursday (Feb. 18, 7-8pm) and running for five weeks. On the show, Turn & Burn, they will discuss all things food (food ethics, vegetarianism, sustainability etc) and on their premiere show they will have Mario Batali live.

I anticipate a great show - what an interesting combo of personalities. I am really looking forward to it.

p.s. XM Channel 157

I finally listened to the show tonight. I really enjoyed it. The banter between Bordain and Ripert is great. The show was from the South Beach Food and Wine Festival. The food porn part of the show was really funny. I hope the network picks this up.

Saw the show with Martha, Eric & Tony. She claimed to be a big fan of Tony's show yet asked him if he had ever cooked in a restaurant. Do your homework, Martha. I loved how Tony was rolling his eyes when she criticized him for ruining her egg noodles. Typical Martha.

I'm pretty sure Martha knows Bourdain's bio, she was probably asking just to establish his credentials for those watching and were not familiar with him.

I just saw a promo for an appearance by the two comely lads tomorrow on the Martha Stewart show. It's probably a promo for the radio show. They will be making coq au vin. I'll be watching.

Funny segment! Martha kept asking the boys questions, then answering them herself. Much rolling of eyeballs by Bourdain.

LOL! I didn't get a chance to see it, but I can only imagine. Martha's not going to let the spotlight off herself!

You know, Linda, now that you mention it, you'r e so right. I'll bet Martha and Bourdain would make a very entertaining show. Can you imagine? Eric is so nice and laid back, but Martha is a bit of a spotlight whore and know-it-all - AB would eat her alive! I can envision Martha rambling on about some rare ingredient found in a far off remote place. And then AB speaks up to correct her about something she said - ooooh, stuff would fly!

Funny, though...Tony had a hard time getting a word in for the first half of the segment. He looked a little uncomfortable, but amused and didn't seem too snarky. Martha did ask questions and then seem not to wait for the answers. Eric was his usual quietly assertive self, and Tony did manage to chime in a bit during the second half. Overall, it was a fun segment. Too bad I don't have XM.

I have XM, but don't have the Martha Stewart Channel - apparently, Martha is premium, which seems ironic for a jailbird. :-)

I saw that, and as I mentioned on another thread, Martha was really laying it on Eric and ignoring Bourdain, I thought she was rude and made a fool out of herself.

I don't have XM radio so I won't be listening. Thanks for posting for those who do have XM radio!

I have it and have not really enjoyed it. Everytime I try and cancel it (since getting a free subscription when I bought my car) they keep giving me deals I can't refuse - $4/month. I'll pay that to hear Bourdain & Ripert alone!

Love, LOVE XM...especially when driving in the country and the only stations are religious, country, or classic rock, but haven't really listened to MSL channel. I might have to try it on the way home tonight.
