Whole Foods Chocolate Heart Cake

While at Whole Foods last night I saw a chocolate heart shape cake with frosted roses. Who could pass this up with Valentine's Day coming up. I didn't but I wish that I had. Tasteless, not worth the calories, so don't bother.

    1. It's a shame that WF's bakery options look so good but usually taste pretty bad.

Some of those that don't look so pretty are delicious. I agree that most of their cakes aren't good, but they sometimes have single servings of a two-layer chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that comes in square pieces. The top layer often slides off the bottom one, so it looks messy, but tastes sublime. Same goes for the fudge brownies with either chocolate or peppermint ganache. Their whoopie pies are good, too. All this stuff is out for the taking; most of the things you have to ask for in the case aren't worth asking for.

          • The chocolate ganache cake is decent. For a store bought cake it beats what you get at MB or S&S and most suburban bakeries.

              1. I think Whole Foods must get some of its prettiest items from Finale - or vice versa - both seem to have a number of elaborate, delicious-looking things that are tasteless and /or bordering on stale in most of my experience.

Wilson Farms and Russo's, on the other hand, both have great-looking, tasty desserts in the glass case that ARE worth asking for - and possibly cheaper than WF.
