AOC--still good?

I have a mid-week birthday coming up, and I'm trying to choose my restaurant wisely. I usually don't eat around the whole Montrose/3rd/Hollywood area, but that's where we'll be going. I don't want anything crazy expensive, but I want to go somewhere new that I've "always wanted to try". I immediately thought of AOC, but wanted to check with everyone to see if it was still as good as ever. If not, do you have another place in that area to recommend? I've been to Mozza and Comme Ca, but that's about it.

Montrose? If you're talking about the North Glendale area then I highly recommend Bashan Restaurant.

Probably Melrose Ave. (figuring french roast knows where AOC is).

There have been some fairly recent posts that still found AOC well worth going to. How about Animal? That's a newer place (without being brand new) and it's a wonderful, fairly priced place with excellent service and no attitude.

AOC continues to have amazingly fresh ingredients, fair prices, consistently delicious food and absolutely no attitude. No pigs ears at AOC.:( (sorry Animal Lovers) Just fresh, wonderful food, wine and inviting ambiance

No pigs ear with chili and lime? I'd say the AOC goers are the ones that will be sorry! ;-D>

Yes! We were there for 5th or 6th time (and we even don't live in L.A.) last month and it was as excellent as ever. The only dishes we didn't care for were their duck and quail and those are out of at least 12-13 that we ordered. We also went to Animal and liked that place too. Both restaurants use great quality ingredients and know how to use them well!

Alas, Montrose was a slip of the..(tongue? fingers?) I was thinking Melrose, but I live in Glendale, so there you go. Thanks for the recs on both AOC and Animal. Doesn't sound like I could go wrong with either one, and we're still in the A's.
