Quiet Upscale Bar w/ light bites

Looking for a quiet bar that serves good appetizers / small plate / bar menu - for Saturday night. Price and cuisine not factors. Coming back to city late and don't want entire meal. More interested in a place to have a light bite and a cocktail with a friend at the bar. Nice but not a scene. Maybe a hotel bar? Was thinking the bar at Gilt? ... I know Gramercy Tavern has a wonderful lounge/bar - it just get's pretty loud on a Sat. night.
