Favorite restaurants in Venice for under 30Euro pp?
My husband and I will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary (and finally taking our honeymoon!) with a trip to Europe in May, including several days in Venice. We are trying to do this on a smaller budget and are hoping to find some quality restaurants away from the other tourists (typical, I know:) to eat for less than 30Euro per person. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I love Osteria da Alberto in Cannaregio - if you order house wine, you should be able to come in at this price. There are definitely tourists there, however.
It is difficult to have a good meal in Venice for less than 30E per person including wine. This is especially true if one is looking for a 3 course dinner. Some good places that is within your budget are: Alla Frasca, Osteria al Bomba, Ai Promessi Sposi, al Portego (Castello), alla Vedova (all in Cannaregio). These are good no frill places and can be bare bone but the atmosphere is always lively. If one share a course and skip desserts (opt for a gelato afterward), then there are more options: Anice Stellato, da Alberto, Trattoria da Remigio, al Garanghelo are just a few. Rather than try strictly adhere to the 30E budget and have all average meals, is to eat simply one night of cicchetti and splurge another. Make lunch your main meal where one will be likely to eat with other Venetians and then a light dinner. There is no getting around to the fact that one will be dining with tourists in the evenings as most working Venetians commute back to the mainland. Night out is left to students and visitors and whereas Venetians mostly eat in. Most inexpensive places in Cannaregio and eastern Castello will have less visitors but is no guarantee. I would also check this board for recommendations as there's been tons of earlier posts on Venice.
I second Da Alberto and Ai Promessi Sposi. Plus, for that budget, also like Taverna San Trovaso.
