How's the food at Trader Vic's?
My Tiki-loving partner and I are regulars for cocktails at Trader Vic's, but we haven't tried anything off the food menu yet. A "Kipa hou mai!" coupon they gave us recently has made me more willing to explore the dinner options...
What do other hounds think of the food at Trader Vic's? Am I better off sticking to mai tais?

I have only been to one - in Scottsdale - so, I had a nice evening outside on the patio with good service. Also during Tiki Time (happy hr!). I enjoyed my tuna sliders. The calamari was so-so. I have heard their fried rice is very good, though and the pu pu platter of sorts.
Worth trying once..with a coupon would be better! -
My wife and I just came from our second visit to Trader Vic's "Happy Hour". I almost taped the experience on my cell phone to show the manager. The wait staff acts like they work in a fraternal organization. They spend most of their time socializing with each other, playing with each other's hair and otherwise ignoring the customers. The food is cheap and tastes it. Well, to be honest, the burger is pretty good, but the ribs and chicken are salty, and tasteless. The chicken tastes like overcooked chicken nuggets with thickened soy sauce.
The tropical drinks are not bad and nicely priced.
So, enjoy a drink and avoid the food at T.V.'s
