xman - I like the way you roll. Louisiana Creole Gumbo has been a standby for years. The bulletproof glass adds to the charm... I'm not sure if it's a safety factor or whether they are protecting the scared cornbread recipe! Sidenote - Red Beans and Rice w/Sausage is world class delicious.

re: xman887
Went to Louisiana Creole Gumbo today for lunch. Man, they really sling the food. It was packed with people getting lunch. Mostly, people were getting red beans and rice. I got the spicy gumbo with extra shrimp $9/pint. It was a more brothy gumbo than I had elsewhere with lots of celery. Very flavorful if not rib-sticking. The cornbread was muffin style and very good. As mentioned there are two cafeteria benches for inside seating and everyone was very friendly. I don't know authentic gumbo from gumby & pokey but I liked the dish.

re: MiMexTex
Depends what kind of lunch. Supino is great, but not for a business lunch--seating is kind of minimal, with several long tables. Roma is old-school Italian. Sala Thai is above average Thai in a fun spot. To hang out over a beer you might try Vivio's. For something exotic, try the Ethiopian place right on Russell at the corner by the freeway spur -- can't remember the name.
