I never found it hard to find, but I've probably never set out specifically to get some.

For the areas you're speaking of, I'd bet that Caribbean Grill would have it - it would be my first stop to investigate, definitely.

I was at the Caribbean Grill the other day and I don't think arroz con pollo was on the menu. Other than the grilled chicken, most ot the entrees are pork and beef.

Good luck. There used to be a Cuban place, La Cantinita, in Arlington that warned people it was going to take 45 minutes. It closed down. I think if you want the real thing you'd have to call the restaurant in advance and special order it. I would recommend Churreria de Madrid in Adams Morgan.

You are the second person who mentions Churreria de Madrid, I may have to go all the way there to try their Arroz con Pollo and the Churros.. I'm used to making mine a certain way but can't wait to see what Madrid has to offer.

Do you know if they serve it with Fried Sweet Plantains... Now I'm hungry.

I think that, if you just go without calling, the arroz con pollo there may be about the same as everywhere else. I think the place has gone downhill ever since they renovated. But if you warn them you are serious, then maybe they can make a proper one. Same for paella.

There is also Rincon Espanol in Adams Morgan. Very good platanos rellenos and tortilla espanol, and a Galician soup which is thick with sausage and potato. The perfect cold weather meal.

Rincon is surprisingly good. Plenty of friends get their Paella and serve it to guests.
