Help please.

Fresh, never frozen quail may be tough to find. Have you checked the Ranch 99 in Van Nuys? If you want to do special order then I would try the butcher at Vicente Foods in Brentwood or maybe the Bristol Farms on Westwood Blvd at Ohio (just north of Santa Monica Blvd.).

Try Vicente's Foods in Brentwood. I remember seeing them there around the holidays. Call the meat department first to save yourself a trip, just in case.

I called Vicente Foods and they have frozen whole quail - 4 to a package.

Guess they only carried fresh at the holidays, they were definitely in the fresh meat case.

You can also sub squab for quail.

you can always buy live ones at the Magnolia Bird Farm in Anaheim... but that takes some balls.

          I don't think I will do live.

There is a small Armenian Market on Coldwater Canyon and either Victory or Vanowed (I think Vanowed) on the sout east corner called Anush. They carry fresh quail that is already marinated but maybe they can accommodate you and just sell you fresh that has not been marinated if you order in advance.
