Restaurants for 20th Birthday?

My younger sister is turning 20 and I want to take her and her friends out to eat. She wants to go to an italian restaurant around manhattan. It needs to be fun or themed, but still nice enough to dress nice (no diner please!). I really don't know that many places so I'm open for any suggestions, where a 20 yr old might want to go.
main dishes $20-$30 around that price range.

What's making my head hurt are the words "fun", "themed" and "20 yr old". For Italian, this board loves the Mario Batali, Michael White and Scott Conant joints:

    http://www.marea-nyc.com/
    http://www.scarpettanyc.com/

Of that batch, maybe Lupa or Otto in the first link would work. Everything in the second link is probably a little out of your price range and probably not "fun" (who knows, maybe your sister is on the sophisticated side). I thought Scarpetta was great fun (it's also in the Meatpacking District), but I'm nowhere close to 20 years old.

I'm guessing your sister would prefer something like Carmine's:

Unfortunately, that recommendation will get me banned from this board ;) .

I'd definitely suggest Otto...Batali's resto near Wash Sq Park. Not themed, but definitely always lots going on..always busy, etc.
