Favorite syrup for Italian sodas?

My wife and I just got a soda stream maker and absolutely love it. I'm generally a fan of essence-flavored seltzers and Italian sodas, not super sweet commercial soda. When I was growing up, I always liked the Torani hazelnut syrup, but I was curious to get some opinions on what other folks' favorite syrups are. No sugar-free, please.

Hands down Monin and NOT Torani! I'm partial to the fruit flavors.

Can juice be carbonized with the soda stream? My bottles say, Carbonated water only". Has anyone tried it?
      Thx

I make home-made passion fruit syrup for sodas, and it's fantastic.

So now I'm intrigued. I look online and see some recipes you simply add club soda or seltzer water. Then I see some soda machines that are $100 ++. What's the best way to make an Italian soda?

Giammona. Their Strawberry and Lemon are awesome. The only place I've seen it retail is A.G. Ferrari.

Not exactly the same, but when we open a bottle of red wine that fails to live up to our expectations, I do spritzers! I'm not a huge sweet fiend, so these taste great to me.

You have to get yourself some Monin Key Lime Pie!!

Also - they are currently offering a sampler pack of syrups that includes 12 assorted sample bottles large enough to make two sodas at 50% off! We discovered quite a few surprisingly good flavors (that I never would have bought otherwise) by trying a couple of sample packs.

Kiwi has always been my favorite. I just bought almond as well and I like it too.

I like Monin syrups. I have 15 different flavors , which I used not just for Italian sodas but also for lemonade, ice cream, coffee, milk, even in cakes .

Orzata (almond syrup), makes a great egg cream.

It has been too long since we made Italian sodas around our house! We went through a seltzer bottle phase a few years back and discovered Monin syrups. Our favorite flavor for Italian sodas became Monin Mandarine Tangerine, and ordered it in bulk from the Monin Company, which kept us happliy supplied for years.
Our other seltzer bottle crave was home-made Brooklyn Egg Creams, with-of course- just the right amount of Fox' U-Bet chocolate syrup and just the right wrist action in the stirring.
If you are in a similar phase to my seltzer bottle period, all experiments will have some success. I never met an Italian soda that wasn't really great. Take time to savor every sip! Do your recipes call for putting a slightly dampened glass in the freezer for a while for a frost effect? Also, go to a kitchen specialty store and get an ice cube tray for mini ice cubes.

I like the flavor concentrates from Nature's Flavors. I especially like the peach and grapefruit flavors...

gosh, looking at that list, i might get into italian sodas! what a selection. how much of the premium concentrate does one use per 8 oz. soda?

Sorry, I never saw your question.

I like my italian sodas fairly light in flavor, so i actually only use about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of the stuff. The concentrate is pretty, well, concentrated. :o)
