menu suggestions
Hello! I am "catering" a meal for 100+ people in April. Any thoughts on what would be a great meal (entree, veggie, starch) to prepare?

a little more information might help. Where are you? Is this a sit down formal black tie affair or back-yard BBQ with hayride? How much do you want to spend? Have you ever catered before? Etc.

Sorry! It is at our church in Colorado. This is a sit down dinner for youth auction. It is not a black tie or casual event, but they want it to be very elegant. We belong to a larger church and do not have a set budget. I was told that I could make whatever I wanted. I have done quite a few catering events (just a small side job for fun) and I was recommended by someone in the congregation. I am open to anything. Not much scares me when it comes to cooking either!

How about something classic like beef wellington, roasted asparagus (perfect for April), and double baked potatoes? Everyone loves the classics.

It’s impossible to giving meaningful advice without more information.
What is your “food” budget per person?
Is this a buffet or plated event?
What equipment do you have (ovens – how many how big, slicers, flat-tops, grills, alto-shams, etc.)?
How are you holding the food?
Is there a theme (American, Italian, etc.)?
What about apps, salad, dessert, bread, coffee/beverage service?
Are you only going to offer one entrée choice?
I have catered many church events for a modest fee (I find it fun) since I have retired but each and every event is different and it the equipment that they have that actually dictates most of the menu.

i'd want to give a couple of entree choices, as suggested, perhaps even something for those that don't eat meat.
depending upon economics, i'd say meatloaf (beef and turkey versions), stuffed cabbage, lasagna, stir-fries (easy to offer meat, poutlry or veggie)....
for sides, garlic red-skinned potatoes, ratatouille, rice pilaf or an herbed rice; lentil/barley/rice salads, roasted cauliflower, onions and carrots
as echoed above, a little more info would help...
