I've had equally amazing wines from growers and big houses -- to the point where I do not have a preference for either.
What I care about most in this wine category is quality-to-price ratio. "Super brand NVs" like the yellow label Veuve cost twice what I believe they are worth. Meanwhile, there are grower names that quickly become overpriced if they get a few 90+ point ratings and have short supply.
That said, what I would really like to see is a blind tasting of entry-level NVs -- Cremant vs, Grower vs Big House. My house sparkler is always a Cremant (now, Jean Louis Denois Brut NV), because I can afford to pour it often at $16 a bottle.
