Wine Stores?

Hey All,

I've just relocated to Midtown Miami. I'm trying to find a good wine store in the vicinity - preferably one that carries a broad selection of labels imported by Neal Rosenthal (or even Kermit Lynch).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Seth

Wine stores are pretty dreadful here. For mass wine shopping there's Total Wine on Biscayne Blvd. in N. Miami Beach. Then there's the smaller shops: Wolffe's in Coral Gables and Leon's on SW 8th St. Direct shipping is legal here so you can check into your favorite domestic labels on their shipping.

SInce you're now in MIA, you may want to take advantage of the strengths, relatively speaking, of imports that come through here which are mainly those from South America and Spain. That's where you'll probably find the best deals and value and maybe expand the horizons a bit. Welcome to Miami.

I would also add W Wine in Miami Beach to your list. W and Wolfe's have Friday wine tastings for $20 or so. Total is great if you know what you're doing and/or trust your iPhone, but I generally steer clear of employee recs (IE ask- Where are the Pinot Noirs? Don't ask - what's a good moscato?)

Go to Happy Wine on 8th St. I don't know if they have what you want, but you will like it and respect it!

While not a HUGE selection, I would say Total Wine down US1 is great if you ask Chip for help. He knows his stuff.

Sunset Corners is also a little farther south, but a very good wine shop with a nice cheese selection also.

If you are in the Ft. Lauderdale area, I'd recommend the Wine Warehouse - on Oakland between US 1 and Dixie. Great selection and prices (they'll beat any prices in town). Best of all, great staff, especially the owner, Felipe.

I have not been in the store yet (often when I've driven by it looks closed), but there is a place called Imperial Wines on Biscayne Blvd. close to 79th Street that may be worth checking out. Here's a blurb ->

Thanks - I called them they don't carry anything by either importer.

I know I've come across a Kermit Lynch down here, but I really cannot remember when or where. I would try contacting them directly:

Can't directly remember any Neal Rosenthal

Per their website, Select Brands distributes down here for Rosenthal:

                  wines@sbrands.com
