Recommendations in/near Le Vésinet
We're trading our house near SF for a home in Le Vésinet for part of the summer. Looking for local Le Vésinet recommendations re: small cafes, brasseries and farmer's markets. Yes, we'll do the Paris places rec'd here, but would like a few non-touristy tips to which we might be able to walk. Thanks.
I posted a long reply but somehow it got lost. Did I offend the moderators? I did not mention any place making me sick or self-promoted in any way!
Anyway, the long and short of it was: there are a lot of good bakeries and pastry shops. Avril, route de Montesson, by Le Pecq, is a wonder of a traditional patissier. Hazard, in Vésinet centre between church and market is quite good. In Chatou, Les Délices Catovins, by the station, is worth a detour (close mon-tue). In Saint-Germain, I have a special liking for La Gerbe d'Or (rue de Poissy). In croissy, great croissants to be had both rue du Pont and rue Maurice Berteaux.
The center of town of Le Vésinet has a lot of good fancy shops -- butcher, fish shop, Monoprix, Hédiard, bio store (most of them avenue des Pages by the church).
The nice markets are Le Vésinet centre on sat morning and Saint-Germain en Laye on sunday on mornings. The others are less interesting, by and large.
Don't underestimate the big supermarkets for good food: Carrefour in Croissy and a giant one in Montesson.
As for restaurants, I have nothing. My fav in the neighborhood is a Chinese in LV, by Le Pecq, called Palais des Rizières. You're better off taking the 20 min RER ride to Paris. Otherwise, Saint-Germain-en-Laye has more restaurants. Cazaudehore has one star and the major appeal of their terrace by the forest.
Many shops will be closed most of August at least.
I thought for a second that CH had again hypnotized me into thinking I was reading the same msges over and over again.
Soup, your reply did not get lost and I was not hypnotized.
I think the OP had for whatever reasons posted her msg twice, therefore you came across the msg as though you had never answered it.
