6 hours in Miami: What to eat?

Hi all,

Baltimore chowhound flying into Miami early Weds. am and have an 8+ hour layover before an international flight that evening. Plenty of time to cab into town (is there a train? I seem to dimly remember) for lunch.

I'm an adventurous eater, love Cuban food, fancy or hole-in-the-wall are equally good for me.

So, where's a good place to go for lunch, and anything else reasonably convenient to the airport that would be a fun, relaxing way to while away a few hours? I basically have never been to Miami, except for the airport, and am completely clueless!

Thanks so much!

Michelle

joe's stone crabs expensive but worth it for the stone crabe experience
steer way clear of normal meal hours or be prepared to wait or tip big for a table
cafe versailles on calle ocho for the true cuban experience well priced and wonderful
go to pepin garcia on 1100 block of sw 8th to get the best hand rolled american cigars
news cafe in south beach for people watching
\go to the art deco bars for ataste of miami partying

The design district is your best option. There are a million posts here on places to try there.

No train. This is Miami, we're not big believers in public transportation. Your most accessible neighborhoods will be Coral Gables, 8th Street or Design District, searches for which will yield lots of options.
