How to minimize already read messages

On some of the message boards the posts show up as titles only once I've read the board but sometimes there will be hundreds of messages that I've already read and I have to plow through all of them to find new ones. Is there some way to always have the topic minimized after I've read the board? Under each message board there is a way to expand but I can't find any way to minimize.

  1. Click to Upload a photo (10 MB limit)
  1. The previously read messages should minimize automatically based on your previous reading history -- is that not happening for you at all?

On some subjects it does but on others it doesn't. I can't seem to figure out any kind of rythm for when it minimizes and when it doesn't.

Normally, how it works is: if you open a thread where there are *no* new posts, all posts will be expanded. If you open a thread with new posts since your last visit, only the unread posts are expanded.

        This is assuming that:

        - you're always logged in
        - your browser is set to accept cookies from this site

        Not sure if this helps...

Thanks kpzoo that does help. I don't always log in so that's probably my problem. I'll start logging in each time and see if that helps. My browser does accept cookies from chow.
