Ideas for using ground beef and potatoes?

Hello 'hounds!

So today is Super Bowl Sunday...I'm having friends over for the big game, and I would like to make something using potatoes and ground beef (mainly because I have 20lbs of potatoes and about 10 lbs of ground beef).

Any ideas on a delicious party dish that involves these two ingrediants?

I agree. Brown the beef, saute onions, carrots and garlic, salt and pepper. Add a little flour, some beer, chicken stock and thyme to make a light sauce. Cook it down a little and then pour into a casserole pan. Top with garlic mashed potatoes (homemade with your regular potatoes)and bake at 350 degrees until the potatoes are browned on top, about 25 mins. This is delicious!!!

I have a great Shepherd's Pie recipe (if you have"t decided what to make yet) me at and I'll send it to you.....

      2. Add some spices, and pie dough and you can roll out some empanadas.

          1. Thanks for your replies everyone! We decided to do a loaded baked potato bar with beef chili - it was fantastic!
