'New York' or old-school Cantonese Chinese Food?

We're moving to ATL this summer and this is our major craving after being out of the states for 4 years. My comfort food meal of choice would be wonton soup, spare ribs, fried rice, and an egg roll. Ahhhhhhhh. There are plenty of other things I'd like to have, but these I NEED!!! My spousal unit is somewhat more flexible.

Thanks for your help.

  1. bearing in mind that this was MANY years ago...when i lived in the area, Fortune Cookie was the go-to places for all of us New York expats. i know the restaurant is still there, but i have no idea if the food is the same...

We just ventured out on our first Chinese restaurant expedition and it was successful! ahhhh, what a relief, we just went to a pal e in our neighborhood called Golden Buddha and it was really good and tasted really familiar. We only had soup, wonton and hot and sour, lo mien and Mongolian beef but it was really great, tasty, not greasy and very generous. Our next outing is definitely going to be be Fortune Cookie. I saw pictures of the food on Yelp and it looked like the real thing. I'll post after. Thanks again,

awesome, i'm looking forward to hearing about your Fortune Cookie experience. i hope it's as i remember, but even if it isn't, at least you know you have Golden Buddha now!

Really worth the trip! The food is authentic and the prices are low!

        1. House of Chan in Smyrna is pretty good for Chinese American food, 80's style. Too bad our family restaurant Keng's Chinese Restaurant is no longer (changed models). It was the first Chinese restaurant in the area and I remember peeping over the counter when I was little, and watching my aunt make trays of homemade eggrolls!
