Kuala Lumpur - South Indian?
Any recommendations for good south Indian food in KL? I see lots of advice for other KL cuisines (Malay and Chinese), but I'm really eager to find an authentic South Indian place when I hit KL later this month. I'll I've seen on the boards so far is a kind of generic recommendation to go to Brickfields. Names? Dishes? Thanks.
I'm assuming you'll be checking out the shops along Jln Masjid India. There is a great cafe at the end of the road, at Semua House. It's a great place to stop and grab a coffee or lime juice, and have some great food. I enjoyed their chicken biriyani and mee goreng. There is also a good Muslim tea joint a few doors down from the cafe. Semua House has a decent food court too, and there are a couple South Indian places in there (basement level).
South Indian food can be found everywhere in KL due to the demographics. My family has a couple spots they take me to, but I've found, that in general. look at the guests inside the restuarant (and this goes for all types): If the restaurant is busy, and the majority of the cleintele is of the same ethnicity as the food, then you know it's good.
Lotus (on the way to PJ old town) and Kanna in Section 19. Eat off a bannana leaf - doesn't get better than that!
And after 18 months of living in KL, I now realised that Saravana Bhavan also happened to serve the BEST South Indian filtered coffee in KL! Its Bangsar branch does an even better version than the PJ New Town branch.
