Har Gow In Montreal Chinatown
Hi! As my Chow nickname suggests, I am a freak of Har Gow.
I am currently looking for restaurants that serve Har Gow in Montreal's Chinatown. These are the restaurants I know that serve this dish:
-> New Dynasty
-> Maison Kam Fung
I would equally appreciate your suggestions and opinions about the restaurants above. I would also appreciate your imput about how to make them myself.
PS: I am not interested in restaurants that are NOT in Chinatown!
Tried Noodle Factory 2 days ago. Their Har Gow was pretty good although they didn't taste only like shrimp, when I looked what was inside, I saw pieces of green stuff?!? Have no idea what that is! Do you know what that could be? I do like the fact that they have a 10 Har Gow for 6-some odd $ special!
Har gow and xiu mai are the two most ubiquitous dim sum dishes in Cantonese restaurants in Montreal. Just about every place has them. I never order them outside of yum cha (dim sum), though ,so I can't speak to the quality of à la carte har gow. If I remember correctly, the ones at Tong Por St-Laurent in Cartierville were very good with shrimp that had a bit of a chunkier texture. As far as Chinatown goes, my vote would go to Kam Fung.
