Where should I get wings for the Superbowl?

mikeystan Feb 5, 2010 05:26 PM

I've got a small SB party on Sunday in Silver Lake and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for getting a tray of 75 wings. I've seen scary reviews about Wing Stop and Superbowls and I was looking to see if anyone has a go to place that's done them right on the big Sunday. Thanks!

I got 5 lbs. of fully-cooked frozen spicy wings at Costco for $13.99. They're bigger and meatier than those chain store wings.

It would be a drive for you but Robin's in Pasadena does great wings. We get them for tailgates frequently and they are always a hit.

        Costco has some good ones.
        Hot Wings on Metrose.

Say what you will, but Hooters really does have some of the best wings around. The one on Hollywood Blvd isn't that far from Silverlake. As for getting them on Super Bowl Sunday, I'd certainly call and pick up very very early. (Also they'd probably come in a bucket, not a tray, but not sure about that or if you can ask for a tray.)

Hooters, 20 to an order is the largest way they sell them and come in a foam to-go box. They are good.

If you are in Silverlake, drop by Ye Rustic Inn for some ye rustic wings. I'm sure they'll be able to accomodate large orders if you got there way early enough.

On another note, Bay Cities whips up some great wings.

Hoagies and Wings. Their wings are good and I know they do large orders. I've never placed an order for more than 10 wings at a time, though.

this place sells out every year. if you go - place your order early. on superbowl, they only do pre-ordered wings - deadline is 9 a.m. sunday!

                go saints!

I was going to recommend H&W too but it didn't seem convenient at all from Silverlake. (And good advice about the pre-ordering.)

might be too late - but there's a downtown location. i know it's a little far from SL - but on sunday w/o traffic, it didn't seem like a big deal.

                    Are you guys serious?????

Ye Rustic inn on Hillhurst in Los Feliz has the best wings, and is closer to you probably than many of the other places listed.

For some reason, they were amazing the 2nd time i had them and have been good after that time but not as transcendental as that one time. Still pretty damn good though.

Yes. Ye Rustic Inn for those darn fine wings.

I doubt that I've ever been to a bar as lowly light as that.

i like the low light though. reminds me as if i were in a grungy bar in another city a la philly or perhaps a hole-in-the-wall joint in Orleans parish. it's does not feel like at LA at all if you discount the hipsters of course.
