Where to buy Espelette Pepper in Phoenix

Leanne Feb 5, 2010 11:59 AM

I have a recipe that calls for Espelette Pepper, I have substituted Smoked Spanish Paprika before, however I really would like to try and find Espelette that is calls for. Anyone know where one might come across it? I have tried AJ's and come up short.

Just popped in to Penzey's about an hour ago. No Esplette there; in fact, the clerk had never heard of it.

Did you have any luck finding it somewhere else?

Hmm...I'm pretty sure I saw some Esplette at the AJ's on Central @ Camelback, but that would have been a year or two ago--might be worth a call to see if they still carry it. You might also try Sur La Table, Williams-Sonoma, and the new Oakville Grocery. I was just at Penzey's recently, and I don't remember seeing it there. But I guess if you strike out elsewhere, you could double-check with them.

I know of 3 places within about 3 miles of my office here in Berkeley that carry it, but sadly that doesn't do you much good. :-/
