Exploring Van - need Richmond Chinese rec, coffee rec, Comm Dr rec!
We come frequently to Vancouver from SF, but we're tired of just doing downtown/Yaletown. This trip, we want to go to Richmond for Chinese (unless you LOVE another spot), Commercial Dr, maybe a new indie coffee spot. I would like sushi, if I can convince the SO to go. We have a car. Sorry about the wide range, but that's what we like! We don't want 'fancy' food. We can get that in SF. We're more interested in authentic and ethnic. (BTW, I would move here just to be near the Meat Master at Oyama. Genius with a cleaver!)

If you want to cover off Commercial Drive and sushi at once, what about Lime? I don't get there nearly as often as I'd like with so many options closer to home for me, but it might be just the ticket for you: http://www.limerestaurant.ca/Rawbar/i... Be sure to ask for seats at the bar (and I'd reserve if you are going on Friday or Saturday
)I love Bump'n'Grind too but Prado at the southern end of the Drive is also worth a look, unless things there have changed recently.

Sushi - go to Lime also on Commercial, Blue Water (pricey but good) in Yaletown. Are you interested in izakaya? There are quite a number of them downtown along the West end of Robson St towards Denman. Guu with Garlic, Hapa, Kingyo to name a few.

Based on a friend's recommendation, we went to the Eatery in Kits. The scene was the star of the show, and was quite fun. House DJ! The food was weak, so we ate just a small meal and promptly went to Lime! Fantastic! Perfect toro nigiri and excellent scallop roll. We even had a California roll after we saw the fresh crabmeat - also excellent. Sitting at the sushi bar was the way to go. Moral of the story: don't listen to friends, just listen to The Chow.

I just saw the lists under 'Olympics' which covers coffee very well. The Richmond Chinese list is too long. We're interested in a restaurant, not dim sum.
