Bridal Shower help needed in the Princeton area!

Hi,

I'm desperate for your advice. I have to throw a bridal shower for my friend this May/June in the Princeton area. It's going to be about 27 people. Can you please recommend some affordable places in the area? I'm based in Philly so I haven't a clue. Anything that would be appropriate right in town? I've been to Mediterra but it's over priced and I was under whelmed by the food.

I am actually having my daughter's bridal shower/engagement party for a small group of about 20 people at Mediterra. They were the only place I could find on a Saturday 1:00, which is when she will be in town (she lives in California). They will section off an area for privacy and it was not too expensive. Although this is not the best of the best food-wise, I think it would be fine for this type of function (not everyone is as discriminating as I am about food) and the location is perfect for people coming from different locations--convenient parking, nice place to walk around after/before, easy directions, hotels nearby, etc. The menu will allow for family-style three main courses, an appetizer and dessert. They can provide a cake and have suggested a florist nearby. Those things were also worth considering.

Depending on what you choose from the menu, Eno Terra could be affordable. They have great salads and bruschettas, as well as pastas. They do, of course, have other, great dishes, but in terms of on the affordable side, you'd need to stick with the salads and etc. They do private events, so you could talk to their person there. A friend is doing her wedding dinner there and found them pretty accommodating. For instance, there's this terrific fava bean, radish and prosciutto salad (those ingredients on top of frisee), which i often eat as a meal along with a few bruschetta. Don't let Mediterra sway you away from Eno Terra, ET is definitely a cut above. Otherwise, Elements at brunch and lunch is more affordable than at dinner, but if you're going for dinner, then steer clear as the prices are much steeper.

It's in Forrestal Village shopping complex just off of Route 1, has a variety of reasonably priced catering menus for brunch, lunch, or dinner, and the service is marvelous. Basically Italian/Mediterranean, and has a loft dining area and a banquet room.

I'd second Carlucci's in West Windsor. I have done a couple of confirmation parties there with great success. Food and service great and it's a BYOB so costs lower. They will even let you bring in your own cake...which you can get from McCaffery's grocery right next door. They do special order cakes.

What about Carlucci's In West Windsor?

Located in a strip mall with McCaffery's Grocery store in it.

I can suggest Capuano in W. Windsor for this type of event. The food is very good, but it is located in an uninspiring small shopping center about 2 minutes from the Quaker Bridge Mall, just off Route 1. I've been to a Communion party and a birthday party here and they were well organized. I have also been there just for meals and have enjoyed it each time. Plus is there is convenient free parking...parking in downtown Princeton is difficult at best. These sort of events are always difficult to plan, aren't they?

Oi! Not a whole lot of good options in my opinion, however, one I might recommend is La Mezzaluna. Definitely affordable, and it's a nice room for the number of people you'll be having. -mJ
