Odd SGV Request
I have an old, dear friend who's moved to a place where they adulterate Chinese food in the name of the vox populi. She's back here for a visit and has asked for proper hot and sour soup (that is both hot and sour) and proper crispy duck.
I know where to get both of those, but not at once. It doesn't need to be beijing kao ya, any crispy duck will do, but I'd like to avoid a restaurant crawl since we will be in separate cars and would like to catch up.
SGV would really be preferable since I'm in OC and she's in Arcadia, but anywhere in SGV is fine.
Help me, Chowhound-wan, you're my only hope!

Some choices ...
Chang's Garden ... duck in hang zhou sauce is good facsimile of Beijing kao ya, and the hot and sour soup is more than passable.
Ji Rong ... duck is good, but hot and sour soup not so much.
Sam Woo BBQ (on Valley Blvd.) ... very good roast duck, decent hot and sour soup.
I'm sure there are others out there, but those are the ones that immediately come to mine.

Maybe too obvious. Duck House aka Lu Din Gee in Monterey Park.
Good duck
Better fried duck jowl/tongue
Can't vouch for the "sour and spicy" soup that's on the menu but they have it.
