a new old beer from Yeungling
I was in a liquor store buying some wine ...I rarely buy commercial beer being a longtime (38 years) homebrewer... but spotted something I had to try: Yeungling Bock Beer. I like Yeungling's beers generally, and the retro packaging caught my eye (they revived an old company label for this one).
The beer was about what I expected, a dark chestnut colored typical American Bock ...and it was just what I wanted. It probably won't generate a lot of fandom from the micro-geek crowd but having checked my micro geek card at the door, I really enjoyed this beer. Maybe not quite the robustness of my favorite (and long gone) domestic bock, Pabst Bock, but very nice and refreshing nonetheless.
It was a nice surprise finding this.
Having been weaned on Yuengling, I was exicted when I first saw The Professor's post. I was even more excited when I saw the six packs at a local distributor for only $5.50 each. I found the brew to be rich and malty, very drinkable, and ultimately a welcome addition from our friends in Pottsville. I picked up another six pack today - it has a date with some crab legs tonight!
