London - Jetlag lunch on Friday?

I'm visiting the UK on Friday morning after an overnight flight from the US. I have the day to spend in London before heading north to my relatives', and would like a nice place to have lunch in central London.

I will be grubby and jetlagged, so it can't be too fancy but I would like some good food and a nice glass of wine (or two!).

Would love any suggestions.

Thanks,
Valyn

    1. Terroirs near Charing Cross. Search for comments on here. Lovely French wine bar that serves 'small plates' of French-ish food so you can graze if your appetite is a bit weirded by the flights. And then easy whizz up on the Northern Line to Kings Cross if you're headed north by train.

helen_b, thanks for the rec. I went to Terroirs and it was just great. Sat at the bar, confessed my jetlag and let the bartender take care of me. Very nice!

So glad you enjoyed it! It's always a bit worrying recommending places you love as maybe the other person won't like it...What did you have? And great you got a bar seat, best place!

Helen, I had the charcuterie plate (duck rillette, pork/pistachio pate, etc.), a nice green salad and two glasses of very nice red wine. I told the bartender I didn't want to make any hard decisions so took his recommendations mostly. A lovely lunch!

              • The American Bar at the Stafford Hotel, in St James. Great food and a very good wine selection. Very relaxed.
