Chinatown-style Chinese near Stamford?

Any Chinatown-style Chinese restaurants near Stamford? There seems to be lots of mediocre Chinese takeouts, but I was wondering which restaurants you would recommend for great Cantonese food. Thanks!

  1. Nothing in Stamford. Nor Fairfield, actually. Especially not Cantonese style. Aberdeen in White Plains is pretty good (dim sum, with good Cantonese selections, I believe. Keep in mind it's closed temporarily due to some flooding in the Marriott.

But other Cantonese in FFC? Not that I've ever heard of.

    1. Not that I've found, anywhere in Fairfield County. However, you can get great Cantonese food in Flushing, which is less then 40 minutes from Stamford. My personal favorites are Chao Zhou, Jade Asian (for dim sum) and East Lake. There are a few others with "Canton" in their name (I think that there is a "Canton Garden" near the Best Western).

The Outer Boroughs board has lots of great threads. One is posted below.

        1. It is not exactly what you asked for ... but I think the most satisfying pan-Asian food in the area is at Ching's Table in New Canaan. Unlike most Chinese in the area, they have bold flavors and, good ingredients, and no gratuitous gummy sauces. I really like their Sichuan Dumplings, Wok Beef Tenderloin, and their Crisp Red Snapper .

            Hey T

welcome to the FFD county part of the board.

Quick questionon Chings recently. Have you noticed a change in their Szechuan Dumps. They seeme to have less peanut flavor in the sauce and the filling seems to have changed in the last few months. Just tryig to gain some other input.

              Thanks for the welcome!

Now that you mention it, the filling did seem different last time I was there (maybe 3 or 4 months ago). The filling as a little firmer, and less aromatic. I don't think I enjoyed it as much, but I put it down to an off night. Now I need to go back and have them again, for testing purposes. :-)

No way. Sorry, in Fairfield county you will find nothing of that caliber. We have good choices for Indian food but still not Chinese. Go to Flushing, I agree!

From recent posts, no authentic Chinese chow to be found not only in Fairfield, but also New Haven cnty, and doubtless all of what this board blithely stamps as "Southern New England." Simple reason...there are no Chinese communities in these parts.

          2. What exactly is "chinatown-style?" Chicken feet and such?
