Need restaurant recommendation - west hollywood/beverly hills

Hi All,

I will be in town with 6 family members (7 total) to celebrate my father's graduation from law school. The graduation is taking place at Skirball Center, and we will be staying nearby - so I think West Hollywood/Beverly Hills are the closest neighborhoods, though I may be wrong.

I am looking for a restaurant for dinner on Friday. Something with good quality food, a little more special occasion in terms of ambiance, but not too expensive (would be good if most entrees are under $20). Also, california/american cuisine, or italian, would be best. Trying to please a wide variety of palates :)

Let me know if you have any great ideas - I am all ears and thankful for suggestions!

Best,
Emily

The Skirball Center is midway between the San Fernando Valley and Bel-air-Brentwood.
Not sure about the prices, but the restaurant at the Getty would be the closest and would be a memorable place to celebrate.

      Congratulations to your dad Emily!

I've only been to West once but it is along the 405 that you would take to get to the Skirball and I think it might work for you:

Maudies5 is correct about your location being between the Valley and Bel-Air/Brentwood.

I'd recommend Cafe Bizou. It's french, within your price-range, tasty, and it has a lively ambience.

Thanks all - unfortunately the restaurant at the Getty and West are both above the price range for this group. Any recommendations that are slightly more casual would be appreciated (Cafe Bizou seems like a good option!). We are willing to travel out of the immediate area as long as it isn't super far. Thank you!

You may want to consider the Bel Air Bar and Grill. Truthfully, I have not eaten there. Location-wise, it would work.

Check out Shamshiri Grill on Westwood Blvd. south of Wilshire Blvd.

I can't recall if Nook takes reservations but the communal table there might work for you.

Il Pastaio is a good Italian in Bev Hills - most entrees are under $20

Perhaps Chez Mimi or Restaurant 2117 might do the trick. Chez Mimi has a lovely setting, with several small rooms.

You can REALLY thank us by coming back and reporting on where you end up, what you eat and how people in your party liked their food.

We ended up at Sprazzo and had a nice meal. There were 6 of us in all and they accommodated us just fine. The food was all tasty, nothing exceptional, but for my family who likes to eat but aren't major foodies, it fit the bill - and for me it worked too :)

We enjoy Sprazzo as a "neighborhood" Italian place with a fairly romantic ambiance when we are doing "date night on a budget". I've recommended Sprazzo on this board quite a few times over the years for those looking for something reasonable in terms of cost in the Westwood area. Did you all squeeze into one of the big booths? Probably too tight a fit for all of you? For parties of 2 or 4 they are the perfect place to sit.
