Canada oh Canada

Aloha, I am traveling to Canada in March and will be in Coquitlam and downtown. Staying at the Hyatt. Would like to find some good small restaurants, real mom and pop places, hole in the wall kind. Let me know of any you like. Any kind of cuisine is good. Also do any one know of how and where I can go to check out a oyster farm or actually go and harvest some oysters.
Mahalo

Yes. I am staying in Coquitlam at the Executive Plaza Inn and would like to taste the best that this area has to offer. I noticed quite a few Korean Joints but which ones should I try. Help. I need something for tonight.

    Thanks

Will definitely try Insadong the next time I come up. We ended up going to Joey Coquitlam.

          Aloha!

Can't think of any mom & pop joints downtown, maybe in Coquitlam. But there are small restaurants/ hole in the walls that serve great food downtown.

La Taqueria (www.lataqueria.ca) - Great Tacos close to Nuba
Finch's (www.finchteahouse.com) - Great sandwiches around the corner from La Taqueria
Bin 941 (www.bin941.com) - Small plates using local ingredients/ west coast fusion
Benkei & Kintaro's - Great bowls of ramen

I don't think there are oyster farms close by but if you want to try fresh local oysters try Rodney's in Yaletown (www.rodneysoysterhouse.com).

            http://www.nuba.ca for hole-in-the-wall

http://www.lobsterman.com for Oysters of all kinds-cheap too.

No Oyster farms near here you need to go to Vancouver Island or one of the Gulf Islands, there are a few in Sechelt Inlet but I don't know if they do tours.

As to harvesting Wild Oysters check with Fisheries and Oceans Canada site to see which areas are open-again you need to go quite a ways from the city.
