A Pleasant Evening [Le Pain Quoditien, Greenwich, CT]

Two colleagues and I ate at this charming restaurant last night. We were tired and wanted a simple dinner. We brought our own wine, having heard the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license. Each of us ordered a different item from the menu, although we shared a starter of toasted mushrooms and Gruyere on farm style bread. One of us ordered the Mediterranean platter, with various types of breads, an eggplant dip, hummus and tabouleh. The others had the chicken cobb salad and smoked salmon and dill on whole wheat bread.

The entire meal was delicious, with perhaps the only slighly negative points being not enough garlic in the hummus and a serving of raisin bread with the Mediterranean platter, a choice that somehow just didn't do it for us. Our waiter gladly brought us the correct bread, however.

The service was friendly and knowledgeable with not a single glitch along the way. Staff were helpful, but not overbearing, allowing the three of us to catch up after a busy day at work.

Portions are large, but not overwhelming. The cost for three came to $23 person, including tip and tax; there was no fee for serving the wine we'd brought.

All in all, a great little place for a light and flavorful dinner, lunch, or brunch.
