SOMA is No More
SOMA in White Plains is gone. It opened to so much hype but never caught on. I think it never found its identity. In its place is a night club called Club Cabo and judging from the pictures I've seen on Metromix a column in the Journal of the opening it's catering to the 21 year old crowd. They've tried this type of venue before on this spot and had terrible results. Any thoughts?

Update on (the old Soma) now Cabo, will now feature Sienna Restaurant @ Cabo. A new partner has been brought in to take over the downstairs restaurant. He has brought in a new executive chef whose resume includes Val Bella! So it's a whole new menu, Italian-American. I heard it was packed this past weekend. I wish them the best cause that space is too beautiful to go to waste.

Place is great Club Cabo when DJ Serg is there on Friday nights nice atmosphere, music, crowd, It's not a meat market nice mix of crowd. They are trying older crowds, They do not serve glass bottle to cut down on fights. I think they learned their lesson and if you drive by Mamk ave. on a friday night you will see the long lines. DJ Serg brings the crowds and performers this is like the old Emanon days they had the best Happy Hours.

Locations such as those for SOMA and Bistro Citron in Heathcote, it's like a vicious cycle. Someone will think they have the perfect formula, and it will be another overpriced pretentious joint which will open and then close in short order. How about what the people want, like a real Vietnamese restaurant? Can you imagine that on Mamaroneck Ave.? Sigh.

While some of their food was good, it was waaay too small for the exorbitant prices.. so I'm not surprised.. that location has had so many incarnations.. and this past one they really spent a lot of $$ to renovate.. Sorry to hear its no longer SOMA, best wishes to Club Cabo...
