Asian groceries in Spokane?

gmm Feb 1, 2010 06:39 AM

I know Spokane doesn't have any stores as large as Uwajimaya for asian groceries, but I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for places with a good selection of Japanese groceries. My mother has been looking for a place to buy konnyaku but hasn't been able to find it for a while.

    Korean

Oriental Food Store, 1312 N Division St, Spokane, WA, (509)327-3478

    Oriental Food & Gift, 13032 W 14th Ave, Airway Heights, WA, (509)244-3545

    Vietnamese/Thai

Bay Oriental Market, 2022 E Sprague Ave, Spokane, WA, (509) 534-5601

Oriental Market, 3919 E Trent, Spokane, WA, (509)535-3936

The owners of both the Korean groceries make trips to Seattle weekly, and will sometimes do special orders if what you ask for is carried by their Seattle suppliers.

When you Google "Asian Market Spokane" you get the 3 I know about: Bay Oriental Market on Sprague, Oriental Market on Trent, and Oriental Food Store on Division. (I like them in that same order) I haven't gone specifically looking for Japanese products, but have gotten Malaysian and Chinese items I didn't think would be found in Spokane. I still go to Uwajimaya a couple of times a year to stock up, but these other places can often fill a need when World Market or a large Safeway doesn't have something.
