Courthouse-Clarendon-Ballston Carryouts

Can someone help me find a good carryout in Courthouse-Clarendon-Ballston that focuses on fish and/or vegetarian?

  1. At some point in the future, Ray's the Catch will be open and seafood focused. In that corridor I can't think of another seafood focused place.

As far as vegetarian, American Flatbread comes to mind. They have good no meat pizza options.

If you stretch over to Georgetown, just over Key bridge is Amma's, which is 100% south Indian vegetarian, and Tackle box which has good take out seafood.

American Flatbread, unless they've caved in since I was there last month, only serves full sized pizzas, enough for two hungry people, but too much for one, and the flat bread crust didn't re-heat very well for me. Good if you have company, not so good if you have to eat it all yourself.

Yeah, you are right, it helps to have more than one person. On a side note to that though they do allow you to have one half of the pizza one set of toppings and the other half another, if you have two people who want different things, or you want to try to different pizzas and can't pick.

    2. Especially if not strict vegetarian (broths and other ingredients) then Nam Viet and I'm guessing Minh's would hold some options.

      1. Liberty Tavern does carryout and they have good fish entrees, and great octopus salad. Satwadee is Thai in courthouse that does carryout and has fish and vegetarian. Aladdins has good lentil soup you could carryout. Mexacali Blues has vegetarian burritos and pupusas. Me Janna is Lebanese food and has carryout. The Lebanese Taverna Market also has a lots of vegetarian options for carryout.

        1. I really like Afghan Kabon on Wilson by Courthouse. The have a vegetarian option that include a choose of rice (I like the spiced rice w/ carrots and golden raisins) and then 2-3 veggie sides, including chickpeas, potatoes, lentils, cauliflower. They have really good hummus but I'm not terribly thrilled with their bread/pita- after it cools it's pretty hard. Great value.

          1. Thanks! Lots of promising suggestions.
