Got the highest rating in the NY Times today ("Don't Miss") by David Corcoran. (Who's resigning from restaurant reviewing, sadly).
Any Ch-ers been to this place?
Haven't been yet, but I've heard RAVES from people I trust! Evidently he's producing an awful lot of good food out of a small kitchen and that oven...
Just read that he's now offering his $30 tasting menu on Tuesday nights as well as Saturdays.
It can be very good, but to keep the prices down it's a bit of old school cucina povera-don't expect much veal or beef or branzino. Lot's of well prepared vegetables and pastas. Convivial atmosphere.
Dined there recently.....I have never been to a restaurant where the CUSTOMER had to get their own condiments, soda, and salt and pepper !!!.....luckily, they did bring napkins...food good....service, non existant....when was the last time you were in a dining place, and told to get the above yourself by an employee ???
I have been a loyal customer for years, and can only say the best things. The owner/chef, Dan, has a passion for food and his restaurant. His daily specials are artfully crafted from the freshest, most local ingredients possible. And the pizza is perfectly cooked in the 900 degree wood-burning brick oven. He is constantly adjusting his recipes to perfection. As far as the service, you have to place your order at the counter, and get sodas from the cooler. The food will be brought to your table, though. I know they are considering full-service. Once again, nothing but great food!
