Best bet for BBQ in/near San Antonio around 6 PM on a Saturday?
Going to be in San Antonio for a conference (staying at the Hill County Marriott), was all ready to kidnap my friends to go to Luling for BBQ, but then read a post that said it can be sold out by noon - my conference ends at 4 PM. Am I SOL in terms of getting bbq at one of the top places? What's my best option, given the time constraints?

Try Two Brothers Barbeque on West Ave. This is one of Jason Dady's restaurants and I've read good things about it, altho' I've not been there myself. I must be the only Texas
woman in two shoes who does not like barbeque. They are open on Sat. until 8, according to the web site. Rudy's in Boerne gets mixed reviews, as does Tom's Ribs and County Line so Two Brothers may be your best bet since you can't get to Luling or Lockhart.

I'll second the Smokey Mo's recommendation. Perhaps not "top tier" if you're talking all of Texas, but darn good stuff. Quite respectable brisket.
And although I'm not a "sauce" gal, I will say that Smokey Mo's is one of my favorites, if you're going to use sauce. I often send bottles of Smokey Mo's up to my dad in Missouri, who can't stand that thick sweet stuff so favored in Kansas City and environs.

For "old time" atmosphere and something your guests will remember, it would be hard to beat Coopers. Second choice, Texas Pride, on 1604 5 miles or so south of I-10 (this would be on the east side of SA).

Thanks, everyone. The other name that popped up a bunch a time as I was researching was Smoke House - is that another place that will run out of bbq by the time I get out of conference?
