Who makes the best Cheese Enchiladas?

Cheese Enchiladas are one of my all-time favorite comfort foods. I’ve enjoyed stellar examples at Moles La Tia, Antojitos Carmen (at Breed Street) and Mariscos Puerto Esperanza. Who do you think makes the best ones in SoCal?

Thanks in advance for your input.

  1. My favorite enchiladas are made by one of the Mexican butchers at Vicente Foods in Brentwood. He makes Chicken and beef. & sometimes, Cheese. They are not always available. I prefer the chicken to the beef. Also, the directions instruct you to microwave.Dont! Heat them in a 400 pre-heated oven for about 20 minutes. I prefer Vicente Foods' enchiladas to any others. I do not like the burritos.

    1. La Paz in Calabasas. Loaded with cheese and the size of a big burrito.

      1. Many restaurants make good, rolled enchiladas covered with cheese, sauce and maybe even sour cream, but the best IMHO is La Barca in El Monte. They make killer, real Mexican style cheese enchiladas. The kind that use corn tortillas, folded in a half moon, then fried in lard before covering with sauce. Delicious. One caveat. They are more expensive if you order a la carte than if you buy the combo (w/ rice and beans).

        1. I love the cheese "tacos enchiladas" with mole at Monte Alban, and like the cheese enchiladas verde at Tacos Por Favor.
