Maple Street Deli

If you're in Eastchester/Scarsdale you may or may not have been to this place on the corner of Maple and Brook St. For years it was Cap's deli, which was pretty good, but this place is a gem. They have all the regular deli staples and delicious premade Chef and Ceaser Salads w/chicken. Which at $5.99 are really two meals in one. They make great egg sandwiches and sometimes have a delicious corned beef has (although I've been skipping breakfast a lot so not sure if they still offer it).

My newly favorite find is the hot bar. They have multiple offerings every day and even have a whole fried fish special which if my boss didn't mind the smell of fish, I'd probably get. Maybe ona day off. So far in the past few weeks I've really gotten into their choices. Here are a few of them. Sometimes they have mashed potatoes as a side, depending on the dishes, but almost everything can be ordered served over rice (white or yellow), beans or steamed veggies.

Chicken Marsala - not heavy on mushrooms, but the sauce is the best marsala sauce I've tasted in quite some time.
Chicken Francais - very good, not as good as the marsala, but very good.
Meat Loaf - delicious and with some of the pan gravy and mashed it's perfect comfort food
Peppers and Steak - I usually get this on a wedge, sometimes with a little hot sauce, awesome
Roasted Pork - a little chewy for some, but the flavor is amazing.
Chicken Gizzards - I was a little taken back at first, but it's tender and the hot sauce they use for it is absolutely out of this world. I might ask them to make me a platter of that with regular grilled cutlets.

The price for a hefty portion (usually two nice sized cutlets with a container overflowing with rice and beans is $7.00 or $7.50. Not sure. It could easily be two meals for average eaters. I'm not average.

Great place and service is incredible. I work down the street and if I leave my office at noon, I'm back eating by 12:07. Every day it's no more than five minutes. Sometimes if I get the hot food, I'm out of there in 2 minutes.
