Weekday Breakfast at Veselka?

Today I'm heading to NYC for a long weekend of visiting friends, fun and nostalgia. I lived in the city for a short time and am looking forward to visiting some favorite places as well as finding some new ones.

I remember going to this place for brunch one weekend that, after some searching here, I think may have been Veselka. It was a very memorable experience for me: the best perogies (and more kinds!) this Italian Florida girl had ever had. I remember that we piled into a cab and went straight down 2nd Ave from our apartment in midtown - is there any other place with an outstanding brunch and selection of perogies that it may have been? The reason I'm interested is that I'm planning to meet with a friend for breakfast (not brunch) on Monday morning. Will I still be able to get the same amazingly tasty experience during the week or is that only a weekend affair?

Thanks!

    1. They serve pierogies every day, but if I were you I'd call them and ask if they're available at the time you want to go.

The Ukrainian Restaurant also serves pierogies but they don't open until noon.

(If you are willing to leave Manhattan, the Polish enclave of Greenpoint is something to consider)

Veselka is open 24 hours a day and I've definitely ordered pierogi in the middle of the night, so I don't think it's going to be an issue.

It's just that their breakfast menu is only available in the morning, so i was thinking that it's possible that they limit other things during that time. Might be worth it just to check so that the OP isn't disappointed.

            2. Today it would be Veselka, but it might have been Kiev. Do you remember if it was on the east (Veselka) or west (Kiev) side of the street. Don't worry if you can't, Kiev is gone.

                1. Given that you recall a big selection of pierogi, I'm going to assume it's Veselka. From their current menu I see 6 regular kinds as well as 2 rotating "special" varieties.
