Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Manhattan

Help! Last minute dinner for 6 near Union Square

My group of friends is planning to go bowling at Bowlmor (University & 12th) on Friday night and we dropped the ball on making dinner reservations. I'm stumped and looking for suggestions nearby where our group of 6 can get a last minute reservation or walk-in without too much of a wait around 8-8:30? Any cuisine, preferably under $40/pp including tax + tip.

I was thinking something along the lines of Alta (totally booked), Back 40 or Yerba Buena (neither take reservations). Any thoughts on Jack Bistro, Da Andrea...?

    1. numerous options in Union Square, LES, EV, Gramercy & Flatiron within 2 hrs of 8 PM according to Open Table...

        1. Rosa Mexicano, 9 E. 18th St. near 5th Ave., 212-533-3350 is a pretty large space, so I think they should be able to accommodate you.
