Frod - not sure how the Chow authorities define MIA/FTL. I wouldn't think it includes Pompano and Deerfield and I'm not sure about Margate, Coconut Creek, or Coral Springs. This'll take some getting used to when replying.

oh Lord I wish it was a South Fl board, it seems daft that it's not the Tri-County area and where do The Keys fit?

Would welcome thoughts on it as I tag posts to be moved - in my head, I'm treating everything in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties as "Miami / Fort Lauderdale" but if the Broward users in particular feel differently, I could apply a different protocol - or just leave Broward alone and only deal with Miami-Dade.

I think Keys posts stay in "Florida", even though if I'd had my druthers there would have been a "South Florida" board for Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward & Palm Beach Counties.

I agree that anything in Broward should be Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, but I miss PB County and the Keys...I think I am going to find this "breakup" more of a nuisance than a help!

That's the most logical setup to my thought processes as well

I think it really should have been the Keys to WPB. That the simple definition that most people consider to be 'South Florida"

CFB - I agree but Jacquilynne S (Community Manager for Chowhound.com) says they're not going to respond to new board requests or changes to the layout: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/6821...

I guess we're going to have to work with what they gave us although this solution seems worse than the problem.

Thats too bad. A "South Florida" board covering West Palm down to the Keys or at least Miami wouldve been the ideal solution.

Some new clarification on the MIA/FTL board from the powers that be that the new board DOES include Palm Beach to the north and Homestead to the south - but not, presumably, the Keys.

Hallelujah! This finally makes sense. I'll start tagging threads this evening. Now if they'd just consider revising the name of the new board...

              Thank you Chow Gods.

I read that too...It's a shame Palm Beach isn't in the title. I think folks are going to continue to be confused.
