Urgent Request for Soup Find

A friend has an awful ear infection that is giving him serious sinus issues, and I wanted to pick up some really good soup for him on my way home from work.

Anything in the Ballston-Clarendon corridor that's really good? I was thinking about Tom Yum from Bangkok 54, but it took about 45 minutes to get there, pick up the soup, and get home the last time...

If there aren't any solid offerings, I'll just whip up a soup myself. TIA!

Like the enthusiasm! How is the rest of their food, especially the soups?

Don't get the pho there (there's another discussion thread about VN places that do good food don't do good pho, and vice versa).

I haven't had the other soups, but they have a full page of them.

As for everything else - I've only ever seen the twice-cooked pork chops come out sub-standard (and that was a companion who ordered right before closing time).

My go-to dish is the curried squid, which has coconut milk and uses either squash or pumpkin to make a sauce I've never had anywhere else.

I've had a few of the different steak dishes (including the last one on the menu, and another one with skewers), and bites of other dishes from friends/family. However, I'm so hooked on the soup and squid I have a bit of a rut.

They have a shrimp with egg noodle soup at Nam Viet that hits the spot. I always order with a side of their shrimp toast, which is the best anywhere. And the squid or soft-shell crab, which I can never pass up.
