HELP! Need good lunch place in westside!

I really need some assistance! My mom just told me that for my birhday (which isn't until the middle of February) she is comming down this weekend to stay with me. What a great present right?

Well anyways I need a great lunch place for this Saturday. My mom is really into ambiance and into the status of a place over its taste. It has to be good but she is much more forgiving if the place looks great and there is great service.

I live in Playa del Rey and would love to stay on the west side if possible but am pretty desperate so I would be willing to go anywhere! Thanks for the ideas!!

  1. My first thought is the Huntley Penthouse in Santa Monica.

This was my first thought exactly. Along similar lines, Whist at the Viceroy might also work or maybe Catch at Casa Del Mar.

Thanks! Huntley sounds great! I looked at their menu and looks perfect! Thanks!!

second the recommendation of the Penthouse at the Huntley.
had some phenomenal crab cakes there last month; still thinking about them. . . .

      3. If she is not looking for the best in food but wants to have a beautiful setting then (if the weather is nice) drive up the coast to Geoffry's and your mom will be in her element.

        Geoffrey's Malibu
27400 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265

Ohh, great call. If OP is up for the drive, this would be my first choice.

        2. The Restaurant at the Getty
(open for lunch only til 2:30pm)

I second the Getty, either Malibu Villa or Brentwood would be a great afternoon.

            Getty Center
1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90049

          2. If La Cienega is not too far East, Bastide.

            1. Joe's in Venice for excellent food and nice atmosphere

Joe's was a major disappointment when it was recommended here years ago. Has it since improved?
