  1. Say it ain't so! They don't have those black cans with the red "Phillips" name with the lump crab meat any longer? Bummer. That was our "go to" spot for crab.

the last couple of times i've been to Costco recently here in San Diego, the only "canned" crab they had was pastic containers of Chicken of the Sea. blech.

Saw the Chicken of the Sea one pound container today at the Los Feliz Costco for $13.99. Jumbo lump crabmeat...."product of Vietnam".

yep, they haven't carried the philip's crab for over a year now, at least in burbank.

Ditto for Canoga Park. Now both TJ's and Costco have the Chicken of the Sea.

      3. ok, seeing Tom Swift's comment about TJ's making the switch as well bummed me out, so out of curiosity i did a quick locator search on the Phillips web appears you can find the jumbo lump and the claw meat at various Vons, Pavilions, Albertsons & Ralphs stores (i didn't search for any other products). just type in your zip code to get the specific stores...

i have no idea how the prices are, but maybe one of them will put it on sale occasionally...

        1. LA Fish they are open to the public, last time I got claw meat for about $8 lb.
