Any word on Credo (Pine St. SF)?

Credo, a new restaurant in the 300 block of Pine St., in the SF Financial District, has just opened. The menu is clearly Italian-ish and looks tasty. Anyone know of or about it?

        1. Credo is pretty good for the Financial District. A well-priced alternative for a business lunch with a typical entree around $10-$14. Things are generally fresh - this is not your mama's Italian cooking, but it's a very light/healthy Italian option. Fits a different niche. The restaurant itself is a bit on the loud side - it reminds you of a loud NY lunch spot.

          Some good things we tried : their pizza (thinner crust type) - good liked the margherita, some dishes with their house made mozzarella (pretty good), special pasta of the day with the hawaiian ono fish - enh - one was really tender the other was rock hard, salads - good, and dessert - NO to the crema catalana / creme brulee (prob the worst one i've ever had), tiramisu - delicious, panna cotta- delicious. Overall a great experience, but expect lunch sized portions but generally nothing is too heavy that you'll have a good ole food coma after.

            1. I have had dinner there once with my girlfriend. Overall a positive experience and not overly expensive. There was a sense that the place is new and that they are still working out some kinks, but we didn't have any really major issues. We had the spicy sausage pizza, seafood risotto, and lobster ravioli. Really liked the pizza and risotto. The ravioli was good but a little bland. The quotes on the walls and the name of the restaurant are kind of a cool gimmick. I got a sense that the area closest to the door may suffer from a little draft as people go in and out on a cold day. I'm sure we'll be back but, on the other hand, one of our favorites, Perbacco, is merely three short blocks away.

                1. Been there twice. We liked the Margherita, and the Genovese pizzas - although the crust was a bit soggy on the Genovese (had them on separate days), and also the Caprese, which even now with tomatoes not in season was tasty, but the best thing we had was the gamberetti - excellent, very flavorful. I don't much like the decor - feels very cafeteria-ish, but the food is decent, service very warm and friendly.

                      A slightly soggy pizza crust was one of the things we were willing to write off as a kink to be worked out -- especially after talking to the chef about it. He was making his rounds among the diners looking for feedback, which was nice. Interesting, though, that you ran into the same issue as well. Hope they will fix it. We also found the service warm and friendly.

                          2nd time doing lunch at this place. the food is good (not great). The soup was very tasty while the salmon salad was just good not great. the room and vibe is really pleasant and positive. the noise level was very high...i found myself trying hard to hear my conversation. it's a good business lunch spot given the prices if you can hear over the chatter.

                              Yes, this place is not good, unless you have an underactive palate and don't care about bland boring 1980's stlye Italian food. The place is so disgustngly loud you might as well, if you go, go with a head set. There are no good drinks and the wine line list is subpar compared to Perbacco , A16, etc. This food is simple to any home cook or native Italian. Save your moeny unless you are staving to death and can't make it around the corner to other spots.
