Food & Wine: what happened?

AllesandroSprezzatura Jan 26, 2010 07:06 AM

I used to have a sub to F&W and loved it for inspiration and some great travel stories. Happened to pick up an issue the other day and was taken aback at how it has fallen from grace. Smaller size, thin as a crisp, crummy matte paper and uninspired stories. Sad. Cucina Italiana is still my standby. Need suggestions...

Agreed, I used to read it cover to cover waiting with anticipation for each issue.

Now I have a hard time finding articles that keep my interest and often miss it entirely when it arrives at the house. It just seems very dull lately.

      I know.

I like Bon Appetite and Saveur...and of course Cooks!

I agree with you about Food &Wine..... Saveur is good with food and travel. I enjoy Cook's Illustrated, but get a sub. as it's deeply dicounted. They are a wonderful web site but you have to pay, think it's $3.95 a month.

I've been disappointed with F&W, as well. Sunset, too (which has a small food section, so I guess it's relevant here), which I often throw away after 5 minutes of flipping through it.
