I think that given Hunan Taste's impressive start, many will be looking to see what they do.
While Grace Garden is small, I'm sure Chef Li will have something interesting for those who manage to get reservations.
The folks at Hunan Legend (home of the not-so-secret-anymore "secret menu") might be another good place to look.
I don't know if Szechuan House in Timonium (or is it Lutherville) does anything special, but perhaps somebody can post info if they do.
Also, since Tet (the Lunar New Year) is also celebrated in Viet Nam, there might be something interesting planned at any of the local "Pho and more" type Vietnamese places.

I hesitate to bring this up, WH, but I think Asian Court said they're having dragon dancers.

No need to apologize, chowsearch!
Actually, I feel a bit guilty for not mentioning Asian Court, because believe it or not, I had actually intended to do so in the original post.
I know that in the past, Asian Court has done some special stuff for New Year, and past experience shows that the place is packed for the New Year celebrations. One presumes they must be doing something right.
Just because I'm not their biggest fan at the moment doesn't mean that they should be dropped from consideration by others.

With respect to an actual chinese new year celebration event, when my husband and I stopped by Hunan Legend this weekend (saturday), we happened to see both a lion and dragon dance going on. It was very festive and we wished we had known about this earlier since we were out of town and thus could not see the signage they posted about reservations for the event. Based on what we were able to catch a glimpse of (it was packed both inside the dining room and carryout!), it seems everyone enjoyed the performance. It seem like Chinese New Year in Chinatown (forgive me if I sound extreme, but to us who have never seem such, it really did seem like it) with very loud drums and symbols and even firecrackers. In the brief conversation (we had to keep it short cause it was so loud and they were so busy) with a staff before we left, apparently they do this every year around Chinese New Year and some folks even make their reservations as early as half-a-year in advance...wow! But we're now determined to make one ourselves for next year because it definitely seemed to festive to miss...Has anyone actually been to the event hosted by Hunan Legend? I would love to hear the 'actual' experience
