Q Restaurant? [San Francisco]

Shane Greenwood Jan 25, 2010 09:18 PM

Does anyone know about this place. It's 10 years old but isn't coming up in posts and doesn't have a link. It was featured on Diners, Drive Ins & Dives recently and seemed pretty good on TV.

Looks like pub grub and comfort food with some nice touches. They make a lot from scratch and their housemade duck confit was featured. Any reports?

Thanks for the link. I was looking for "q restaurant". Looks like the place hasn't been discussed since 2008.

I used google to search site:chow.com for the address. Not an easy name to find.

Not my favorite by a long shot. The place has a funky atmosphere (read kind of run down) and the food is underwhelming. Some funky places are cool, but the food has to be up to par for me to come back. Definitely not returning to Q.

I like it quite a lot. It's mostly pretty simple stuff, but it's done well. Their burger is really good, and I like their fried chicken with mashed potatoes. I'm not generally a huge breakfast eater, but the I like their brunch choices, particularly the chilaquiles.

Pub grub or diner food with a twist is pretty much what Q serves. It's within range of the other Bay Area DDD places. The thing is, to me, the funkiness always seemed a little forced or a bit out of place, especially since it's Clement St. I always got the burger. If this was somewhere else, it might be better suited but it's still in business so it works for them.

Sadly, they're closing on June 29.
